World RX: Davy Jeanney unbeatable at Estering
Frenchman Davy Jeanney and his Peugeot 208 WRX are the heroes of fifth round of World Rallycross Championship which was take place on Estering circuit in Germany. After winning two qualifying heats on Saturday, Jeanney was unbeatable today and has won one more qualifying heat, semi-final race and great finale against world champ Petter Solberg and four more Scandinavian drivers.
In the final run Jeanney’s victory was dominant, with almost five seconds gap on Solberg in Citroen DS3. Reigning world champion was fighting against Jeanney’s team-mate Timmy Hansen and Johan Kristoffersson in Volkswagen Polo. Behind two Swedish drivers were two more Norwegians – Andreas Bakkerud (Olsbegs MSE, Ford Fiesta) and Tord Linnerud (Volkswagen Polo).
17 drivers in Supercars were participated in German round of World RX. There was 12 places in semi-finals so five of them finished the competition after four qualifying heats. Biggest dissapointment was bad result of Mattias Esktrom, one of the favourites, who was second last year at Estering.
On the track were also drivers in Euro RX competition, 18 of them. Tommy Rustad (Marklund Motorsport) was dominating with fastest times in all four qualifying heats and after that he easily wins semi-final and final. Second was Jerome Grosset-Janin and third was Fabien Pailler. Winners of World RX supporting categories are Ulrik Linnemann (S1600) and Fredrik Salsten (TouringCars).
Next World RX round are scheduled in three weeks at Höljes (Sweden). Leader in championship standings are Petter Solberg with 138 points. After him follows Kristoffersson (103), Bakkerud (88), Hansen (79), Jeanney (77), Nitiss (76), Heikkinen (63), Ekstrom (61)… Best team are Ford Olsbergs MSE with 164 points ahead SDRX (158) and Team Peugeot-Hansen (156).
