West Surrey Racing conquered Croft - three BTCC wins in one day
West Surrey Racing team conquered Croft Circuit at BTCC event today – their drivers had won all three races in one day. Race 1 winner was Andy Priaulx, in Race 2 triumphed Sam Tordoff and finally in Race 3 fastest was third team-mate Rob Collard. It was WSR’s fourth win in a row, cause Tordoff has won last race at Oulton Park.
It wasn’t easy victory for WSR veteran racer in BMW 125i M Sport. Collard started from pole and fighted against Gordon Shedden in Honda Yuasa’s Civic Type R. Flash made a move at Tower in Lap 3 and overtook the lead. In Lap 12 Collard returned into the lead and after that made the gap of seven seconds. In very last turn, at famous Croft hairpin, Andy Priaulx attacked Shedden and took the second place.
Team BMR’s duo Colin Turkington and Jason Plato was fourth and fifth from start to finish. Behind them Sam Tordoff had to fight against Matt Neal. Tordoff defended his sixth place, but Neal dropped to ninth in final two laps, behing Tom Ingram (Speedworks Motorsports) and Jack Goff (MG Triple Eight). Warren Scott (Team BMR) took the last point.
In championship standings after 15 races new leader is Gordon Shedden with 195 points. Following are Jason Plato (185), Matt Neal (173), Sam Tordoff (162), Colin Turkington (161) and Andrew Jordan (156).
Next races of British Touring Car Championship are scheduled for 8 and 9 August at Snetterton.
