VLN Championship - ADAC Barbarossapreis
After problems in the beginning of the VLN season when Nissan GT-R GT3 took of into the crowd killing one spectator and the controversial decision of limiting the speed on Nurburgring, finally we witnessed a good race and a proper VLN spectacle. The results in the top class were very interesting too.
The winners of the 47th ADAC Barbarossapreis VLN race are Uwe Alzen and Dominik Schwager in the black Ford GT race car, the older model. Their win is very interesting since Ford GT is not designed to be a racing car nor does it have a factory racing version.
They raced against all other GT3 spec cars which have been developed as a racing car so this win is very important for drivers as well as for Ford GT fans. The black GT had some problems before in the form of crashes and not so high results but in this race it was flawless and its victory is well deserved.
The second place is also very interesting since it is occupied by the new Lexus RC-F GT3. This is the first time since 1979 that the Japanese make has had a podium finish on VLN race. This shows that Lexus has great potential and could be strong contender in GT3 racing soon. Third place was won by BMW Z4 GT3 a well known model on this track and in this class.
