Vauxhall returns to BTCC after nine years
After nine years of absence, the most successful manufacturer in the history of British Touring Cars Championship returns to the series.
Vauxhall is ready for BTCC return in 2017! The most successful manufacturer in the history of the competition teamed up with Power Maxed Racing team which will run two Vauxhall Astras in 2017. Vauxhall won eight BTCC Drivers’ and Manufacturers’ championship titles over a 21 year period between 1989 and 2009, including two each for John Cleland, James Thompson and Fabrizio Giovanardi.
“We are incredibly pleased and proud to be working with Vauxhall and to be the team that brings this iconic and highly successful brand back to the BTCC. The all new Astra is a fantastic car and it is no surprise that it was voted 2016 European Car of the Year – it will make a show-stopping BTCC challenger,” said Adam Weaver, Power Maxed Racing’s Team Principal.
Alan Gow, BTCC Series Director, is also delighted with the Vauxhall’s return:
“It is fantastic to be welcoming Vauxhall back to the BTCC as a manufacturer entry. Its history and pedigree is there for all to see and I have no doubt that the highly professional and experienced team at Power Maxed Racing will be great partners.”
The 2017 BTCC season kicks-off on 2nd of April at Brands Hatch.
