V8 Supercars - Coates Hire Sydney 500
The 2015 V8 Supercars season has come to the end after almost 10 months of very interesting and intense racing. The Coates Hire Sydney 500 event this weekend is last event of the season and championship defining moment we have been waiting for all this season. In our big season recap we will cover all interesting moments of this season but for let’s concentrate on final round of this season this week in Sydney. The last race of 2015 will be held on Sydney Olympic street circuit which is well known 3,42 kilometers track with sharp corners and no place for mistakes.
This event has started with three half an hour long practice sessions with interesting results. Shane van Gisbergen was fastest in first practice session with 01:28.6455 time. During the first practice session, championship leader Mark Winterbottom had small crash but his crew was able to repair the car. In second practice session, van Gisbergen was again the fastest with improved time of 01:27.8837 minutes. Van Gisbergen repeated his great driving in third session also and further improved his result with 01:27.7651 min. time proving that this track and conditions suits him.
The Pepsi Max Crew driver, Mark Winterbottom as championship leader has to be on podium this events in order to win the 2015 V8 Supercars title. The pressure is on him since his teammate and perspective driver Chaz Mostert is in recovery from big crash in Bathurst earlier this season. He has good points advantage over Craig Lowndes but if he is not on podium in this event, that advantage will not be enough to bring him his first V8 Supercars title.
