Team Black Falcon - Racing Predator from Nurburgring
Team Black Falcon is the racing team from Meuspath, Germany, founded by Alexander Böhm, Marc Schramm, and Marvin Wagner in January of 2006.
The success was imminent
The beginning was quite modest because the new team had a small workshop with only one hydraulic lift and three cars in its fleet. Black Falcon team entered 24 Hours of Dubai that year and also competed full-time in VLN championship. The debut was impressive after the team finished as a vice-champion in the Nurburgring-based series.
Encouraged by a good beginning, the team in 2007 moved to the new headquarters – a modern workshop hall near the Nurburgring. In the new environment, the team was able to expand its operations to the areas of construction, optimization, and maintenance of customer sports cars.
At the same time, Black Falcon quickly became one of the leading motorsport squads in Germany with a growing fleet of vehicles, mainly BMWs. The Meuspath-based squad won three VLN titles – in 2008, 2009, and 2011. In addition to the successes in the VLN, Black Falcon also won the Seat Leon Supercopa championship, which was the first commitment in Germany away from the Nurburgring.
Debut in GT3 racing
In 2010, Black Falcon debuted in the GT3 racing at international level. The beginning was with Audi cars but in autumn team switched to Mercedes and new SLS AMG GT3 car which proved to be a good decision. In October, Black Falcon was the first team that won the VLN race with this car.
The first success on the international stage was achieved in January of 2012 in Dubai when Black Falcon for the first time won the 24 hour race. At the same time, it was the first triumph of Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 at a 24-hour race. At the same venue, Black Falcon recorded other two wins in 2013 and 2015.
Another move was inevitable
The Black Falcon continued to grow, so the shareholder structure of Black Falcon was changed in 2012 and 2013 when the former driver Sean Paul Breslin took on the role of a general manager and SLS team boss. Marc Schramm left the company and set up his own sports agency while Alexander Bohm stayed on board as a partner and became a sole managing director. Marvin Wagner stayed within the team as a partner, general manager, and technical director.
After a number of vehicles owned by the team became larger, finding new headquarters was inevitable. Finally, in 2012 Black Falcon moved to the newly built headquarters in Meuspath, right next to the legendary Nordschleife. The new building serves as a base for the international racing activities and also as a representative location for Black Falcon business partners.
Black Falcon triumphs at Nürburgring 24 Hours
Probably the biggest success in the team’s history so far was a triumph at 24 Hours of Nurburgring in 2013. The drivers of Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 were Bernd Schneider, Jeroen Bleekemolen, Nicki Thiim, and Sean Edwards. The car that scored a maiden overall victory for Mercedes in one of the world’s biggest endurance events was later exposed in the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart.
Next year Black Falcon’s Mercedes, driven by Jeroen Bleekemolen, Andreas Simonsen, Lance David Arnold, and Christian Menzel was close to another victory in the endurance classic but narrowly lost to Phoenix Racing’s Audi.
The second win at Nurburgring 24h race was scored in 2016. It was the first start for the all-new Mercedes-AMG GT3 driven by Adam Christodoulou, Maro Engel, Manuel Metzger and Bernd Schneider. They scored the win in a breathtaking final overtaking the leading HTP-Motorsport car during the last lap.
Success in various championships
VLN, Black Falcon also achieved several good results in other series. Over the years, the team celebrated wins in the 12 Hours of Abu Dhabi in 2013, the Blancpain Endurance Series, the RCN Nürburgring and raced in many other international series, including the British GT.
Except Mercedes AMG, Black Falcon also operates with Porsche
In addition to AMG customer sports vehicles, the team since 2012 also operates with Porsche racing cars. The fleet of over 10 vehicles is available to Black Falcon customers for racing and active driving events. These Porsche cars have also enabled many class wins and exceptional results in Dubai and the Nurburgring.
