Renault presents a team for the new season
Renault Sport Formula 1 team was the first of the Formula One teams which has unveiled its 2016 challenger – the RS16. During the ceremony in Paris, the new team also presented their drivers and staff.

Don’t expect miracles
Ambitions of the team, which is returning to the series, are not too high, said Carlos Ghosn, Renault chairman and CEO:

“We recognise the fact we are starting with a handicap compared to the winner. We think we have the talent and willingness and experience in order to close the gap. It may take some time, but we will close the gap. We are not here just to participate, we are here to compete and to win. It is not going to happen in 2016. Let’s not think of a miracle.”

The newly-created Renault Sport Formula One Team will be the core of the Renault’s sports activities. The new F1 challenger consists of the Renault RS-16 chassis, developed and manufactured in Enstone, whilst the Renault RE-16 power unit will continue to be developed in Viry-Chatillon.

Well known names in the team
Jolyon Palmer got his chance in the seat after serving last year as Lotus’ reserve driver, and he will be partnered with Kevin Magnussen who has arrived as replacement for Pastor Maldonado. Esteban Ocon is named as the reserve driver.

ART Grand Prix boss Frederic Vasseur was named as racing director, while Cyril Abiteboul is the managing director and Bob Bell becomes the chief technical officer.

Livery of the new car is mainly black, but that is subject to change before the season’s kick-off in Australia in March.
