RAVENOL in motorsport - racing on a whole new level
RAVENOL, German premium motor oil brand is currently represented in more than 100 motorsport competitions worldwide. The massive expansion of RAVENOL in the world of racing started not so long ago, in 2004, when Ravensberger Schmierstoffvertrieb GmbH and its brand RAVENOL entered the Deutsche Produktionswagen Meisterschaft (ADAC Procar today).
Since then, RAVENOL brand established itself in the international motorsport world, through its constant involvement as a technology partner and supplier in the racing series of different sporting orientations. RAVENOL has been, and still is, a partner in various racing championships, no matter the class or age. From junior single-seater competitions, to the premium racing series such as World Rally Championship, World Touring Car Championship, World Endurance Championship, ADAC GT Masters, RAVENOL stands firm.
International expansion of RAVENOL Racing department started in 2005, after the first year of participation in German national racing competition when the brand became the partners with Ford Hotfiel team in the World Touring Car Championship. In the following years, RAVENOL extended their involvement in touring car racing through the WTCC and other national and international series.
In rallying, RAVENOL was also partnering with different teams, from national competitions to the World Rally Championship. In the FIA World Rallycross Championship, which was inaugurated in 2014, RAVENOL was represented together with long-term partners of Volland Racing. The newest partner of the RAVENOL is the EKS RX, the leading World RX team owned by DTM star Mattias Ekstrom.
In the sportscar racing and GT racing, RAVENOL was or still is involved through some of the world’s most renowned teams such as Team Rosberg, C.Abt Racing, Phoenix Racing, Farnbacher Racing or Aston Martin Racing.
Endurance races and especially the 24-hour race at Le Mans are another exciting areas in which RAVENOL had notable partners. Two teams which compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship had chosen the RAVENOL as a partner – ByKolles Racing in the LMP1 class and British team Strakka Racing in the LMP2 class.
RAVENOL is still not in Formula One, but the brand was or still is represented in all other open-wheel racing series, from young driver classes such is Formula 4 to the highest categories below F1, such as GP2 Series and Formula 3.
In the previous years, RAVENOL was a long-term partner of the German ATS Formula 3 Cup. In the current ADAC Formula 4 Championship, RAVENOL is supporting several teams – Neuhauser Racing, Motopark Academy and Van Amersfoort Racing. Motopark and Van Amersfoort also compete in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship and RAVENOL is the official lubricant partner of the series.
One of RAVENOL’s most important partners is the Italian top team Prema, Mick Schumacher’s current team. The cooperation of Prema team and RAVENOL began in early 2016 and it extends from the Italian and German Formula 4 series through the FIA F3 European Championship to the GP2 Series.
Since June of 2015, RAVENOL has been an exclusive partner of Opel Motorsport. This partnership comprises national and international rallying with Opel Adam R2 cars as well as touring car racing with Opel Astra in both the TCR International Series and the ADAC TCR Germany.
In 2015, when completely new racing series was created, the Audi Sport TT Cup, RAVENOL was chosen as a technology partner and the official supplier. The cooperation is extended for the season 2016.
Starting with this season, RAVENOL also became the official lubricant partner of the ADAC GT Masters and the Spezial Tourenwagen Trophy, that are contesting during the ADAC GT Masters weekends.
In addition to the technical cooperation with the racing teams and series organizers, RAVENOL also directly cooperated with the manufacturers in the development of the oils for racing engines and gearboxes. This cooperation guarantees a consistently high-quality standard for the RAVENOL lubricants used in motor racing.
Except for the manufacturers, teams and series organizers, RAVENOL has interesting partnerships with some of the most famous racing circuits. The partnerships between RAVENOL and the Hockenheimring started in 2014. The first corner after the home straight has been named ‘RAVENOL-Kurve’ and the circuit got a new landmark, the 13-metre and 5.8-tons RAVENOL tin installed on the RAVENOL Haus (former Start-Ziel Haus).
Since mid-2016, the Nürburgringring also has at RAVENOL-Kurve. RAVENOL is a technical partner of the Nürburgring and a lubricant partner of the Nürburgring Driving Academy. Furthermore, RAVENOL is also an official partner of the Nürburgring 24-hour race, which takes part at the legendary Nordschleife circuit.
