She began her rally career in the 1970s and quickly rose to prominence, becoming the 1982 WRC runner-up. Throughout her career, she secured four rally victories, all with Audi during the iconic Group B era.

Beyond her achievements behind the wheel, Mouton has been a pivotal figure in improving safety standards in motorsport. From 2010 to 2024, she served as the FIA’s rally safety delegate, where she played a crucial role in enhancing safety measures across the sport.

“I didn’t expect this honor, thank you so much – it’s a great pleasure,” she said. “I’ve spent 50 years of my life in motorsport – 15 years as a rally driver, 20 years organizing the Race of Champions, and now 15 years with the FIA. Today, safety is the most important thing, and I’m happy with all we do with the team at the FIA”.

The ceremony also celebrated other notable achievements in the motorsport world. Thierry Neuville and Martijn Wydaeghe received their champions’ trophies for topping the 2024 WRC season, while Toyota’s project director Yuichiro Haruna accepted the WRC manufacturers’ trophy for his team.
