Peugeot Sport’s rally department is getting stronger with the introduction of the Peugeot 208 Rally 4, the successor of their best-selling car Peugeot 208 R2, that has been sold in over 450 copies worldwide.
The new car will compete in the same category but gets a new name due to new FIA naming rules. This is a brand new car on which the Peugeot Sport technicians and engineers have been actively working since the beginning of the summer of 2018. The new Peugeot 208 Rally 4 is equipped with the new 1.2-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged engine using the latest PureTech technology. The engine develops 208 hp by grafting a bigger turbo, an electronic race management signed by Magneti Marelli and a gearbox SADEV. Everything is implemented in the new CMP platform – platform common to PSA Group B vehicles – offering reduced mass and improved vehicle dynamics for even better sporting performance.
The Peugeot 208 Rally 4 will make its first appearance this weekend at the Rally of Madrid, under the colors of the Peugeot Rally Academy, driven by Efren Llarena and co-piloted by Sara Fernández, FIA ERC3 2019 Champions. The car will also be exhibited this weekend in France, during the final of the FFSA French Rally Championship at the Rallye du Var.
According to a homologation program that will take place at the end of the first quarter of 2020 with FIA authorities, pre-orders for the new car will be opened at the beginning of January 2020. The prize is 66 000 euros.
