McLaren 570S GT4 - Baby Racer
The McLaren 570S GT4 is the race track version of road 570S, revealed early in 2016 and prepared for racing in various championships.
Tested in the British GT series
The new car was launched at Goodwood Festival of Speed while racing debut made in April of 2016 at the British GT Championship. The first year at the race track was used for further development and the season of 2017 was supposed to be one in which we should see real possibilities of McLaren 570S GT4. Ecurie Ecosse, one of the best teams in the series, was chosen as a partner. The new McLaren car scored two wins out of nine races while drivers Sandy Mitchell and Ciaran Haggarty finished the season 3rd in the Drivers’ Championship.
In 2017, McLaren 570S GT4 debuted at Daytona 24 Hours, while four teams will field a total of six McLaren 570S GT4s in the British GT where will face competition from the brand new Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport, Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4, and Ginetta G55.
Well prepared for racing in 2017
The Mclaren GT4 was built alongside the base model and 570S Sprint. Although being very similar at first glance, the two have many differences, including a brand new air jack suspension system, aerodynamics package including big rear wing, and center-lock magnesium alloys wrapped in Pirelli slick tires. McLaren also added to 570S GT4 a brand-new cooling system and radiator, but the powertrain remained unchanged.
The interior of the car is based on the stock model, with all main features, including the dashboard and the center console. The McLaren GT4 has an FIA-approved roll cage and fire extinguisher system, as well as race-specificated bucket seats with six-point harnesses. Black-and-orange livery pays a tribute to McLaren’s successful motorsport past.
Slightly more expensive than road car
The price of McLaren 570S GT4 starts from £159.900 excluding taxes, being little more expensive than the 570S road car, what is still relatively affordable for its category. However, throughout 2017 we definitely saw what this car is capable of.
