Jaguar enters Formula E in 2016

As it was expected, Jaguar confirmed entry to the Formula E championship, starting from season 2016/2017.

After Trulli team left the competition, remained one empty slot and it was quickly filled by Jaguar which enters series as manufacturer with its own team. They said this is excellent opportunity for their further developing of electric vehicles.

Alejandro Agag, CEO of Formula E, said that everybody is delighted after such a brand with huge sporting heritage decided to join series, while FIA president Jean Todt added that Jaguar’s decision is proof of success for Formula E which attracts prestigious brands accross the automotive industry.

Nick Rogers, Jaguar Land Rover Group Engineering director, said he is proud to announce return to racing.

“This is very innovative competition which give us opportunity to go further with developing of our electric vehicles and technologies as they have important role in our programme. The championship will enable us to engineer and test our advanced technologies under extreme performance conditions. I expect to see more changes in the automotive world in next five years, than in the last three decades,” said Rogers.
