Do you know who was the best pianist among F1 drivers?
Regardless of whether they were the champions or not, Formula 1 drivers have always been superstars. Many of them had talents that remained unknown to a wider audience and Elio de Angelis was probably one of them.
One of the interesting things about the Italian racer is that he was a concert standard pianist. During the drivers strike before the 1982 South African Grand Prix, de Angelis was the one who entertained his colleagues while they were locked in a hotel protesting against the new super licence conditions implemented by FISA.
Before the 1985 German Grand, Elio de Angelis was a guest on German television and performed a song that he wrote. Just a year later, Elio died after an accident at Paul Ricard circuit in France.
