Marco Attard is a gentleman racing driver from Scotland whose greatest success in a career was the championship title in the British GT Championship in 2014. Aside from his prominent racing profession, Attard is also a quite successful wine merchant and a person of versatile hobbies.

Late start of a racing career
Born in March 1961 in Edinburgh, Marco Attard started his racing career in the UK Ferrari Maranello Challenge back in 1999. In the same year, he made a British GT Championship debut, driving a Venturi 400 LM in one race.
In 2000, he expanded his GT programme to full season with Zest Performance, driving a Ferrari F355 Challenge and Ferrari 360 Modena. One more season with Zest Performance Ferrari 360 Modena followed in 2001 but without notable results.
Racing at Daytona with Porsche
In February 2002, Attard went to the US to drive Graham Nash Motorsport's Porsche 996 GT3-R at Daytona 24 Hours, not finishing the race. Back in Britain, he continued to drive Ferrari 360 Modena, first for Group C team and then for Damax.
Attard stayed in the British GT Championship until the end of 2005, sharing a car mostly with Nick Adams.

Returning to racing in 2012, winning British GT Championship in 2014
From 2006 to 2011, Attard was out of racing, returning to the race tracks in 2012. He was driving Lotus Evora Cup in GT4 class of the British GT Championship and Lamborghini Gallardo LP600+ in GT3 class, without notable results. In 2013, he joined Ecurie Ecosse to drive the #79 BMW Z4 GT3, together with Oliver Bryant. He scored his maiden British GT victory at Silverstone and finished third in the points.
In 2014, Alexander Sims joined him as a co-driver in the #79 BMW Z4 GT3 of Ecurie Ecosse. The won two races, at Oulton Park and Spa, securing the championship title in the last round at Donington Park despite not finishing the race.
Next year, Attard and Sims were defending the title in the #1 BMW Z4 GT3, scoring again two victories, at Rockingham and Brands Hatch, to finish second in the points, behind Beechdean AMR's Andrew Howard and Jonathan Adam.

Slowing down with racing again in 2016
From 2016, Marco Attard slowed down his racing activities. He participated in just one British GT race, finishing third at Silverstone i nFF Corse Ferrari 488 GT3, together with Adam Carroll. Outside UK, he raced with Barwell Motosport's Lamborghini Huracan in selected raced of the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup, including Spa 24 Hours.
In 2017, Attard participated just in historic racing events, not racing in any championship.

Wine before and after racing
He is married and has two kids. Interestingly, he is working as a wine merchant. As he admitted, one of his hobbies is wine drinking, as well as skiing and shooting.
