Kurt Thiim is former racing driver from Denmark, born in Vojens on 3rd of August 1958. He started career in karting races and from 1978 to 1984 competed in single seaters before moving to DTM. Before that move, his best result was winning a title in German Formula 3 in 1984, but despite this triumph, he never had a chance to prove himself in higher formula classes.

In his debut year of 1986 Thiim won the DTM title driving a  Rover Vitesse, while in the 1987 he raced in Alfa Romeo 75. As a Mercedes driver, he was one of the greatest racers in the series in the next decade despite failing to win a second title.

In 1988 he joined AMG team in which he spent four years. In 1992 he joined Zakspeed team and returner to AMG in 1996. In his DTM career he won 19 races,  resulting runner-up in 1992, third in 1990, fourth in 1989 and 1995, fifth in 1994, and sixth in 1993.

After the series was discontinued after 1996, Thiim has competed in several iouring car series. Including German Supertouring Championship and Danish Touring Car Championship where he won a title in 2002. Kurt Thiim also worked as a TV host in Germany and Denmark for various racing competitions.

After 2009, Thiim rarely took part in competitive races, but has sporadic appereances in the Legends category of the classic cars races. But, in 2015 Thiim is in charge again as he is preparng to compete in Danish Supertourisme Turbo, new class of races in his native Denmark.

In 2010 he started to work as a full time employee of the Goodyear company in Colmar (Luxembourg). Kurt Thiim is also a father of Nicki Thiim who is competing in Porsche Supercup.
