Car Wrapping is Growing in Popularity
Especially in the business world, car wrapping is becoming increasingly popular and can help to show people just how professional your company is. With more vehicles on the street than ever before, it is also a great way to be advertising for your company whenever one of your vehicles leaves your premises. Especially popular are wraps for Fords as Fords are used by many businesses as well as by people for personal use.
So, what exactly is car wrapping?
It is wrapping your car in a vinyl coating. Why would you do this? For a few reasons, maybe you just want to change the colour of your car, or the sheen it has. Or maybe, you want to add your company logo and start some free advertising whenever your vehicles are out and about, as mentioned above. These are all good reasons to get that car wrapped like you have been wanting to.
How can I get my car wrapped?
To give a good impression, you will want to get it done professionally. As easy as you may think it looks – that’s right, I hear your head saying, “I can do that, no problem” – it is a job that requires a lot of skill. For example, what if you are a company with a number of different types of vehicles and you want the same logo on each? Each of these vehicles will have a different body shape, with many curves and lines that need to be accounted for in the design so that, although on different vehicles, the design looks the same on each. There is a lot to factor in and consider when designing these logos, and also when applying them to the vehicle. It would have to be specific to each vehicle or it will end up looking unprofessional and would give the wrong impression of your company. Because of this, many may have attempted to do the job themselves, but have ended up going to a professional to get it done in the end anyway, so save yourself the time and stress and just go straight to a professional in the first place.
How will they get it done without any imperfections?
The professionals who do this know exactly what they are doing and will have training and experience on the different styles of cars, on how to handle curves, etc. Some parts of the car will be much easier than others. For example, the doors are quite large and usually flat, as is the roof, or the car bonnet or boot space. These areas may then be easier to get perfect for you. The technicians are careful to make sure all air bubbles are gone, and you are left with a lovely, smooth finish. The trickiest parts are some of the curved areas. While extra care is taken, even the most experienced of technicians may struggle to get it completely smooth or bubble free. This doesn’t have to be anything to worry about. When they come up against these problems, they are very skilful at finding ways to hide these so no one would ever know.
Can’t I just get my car sprayed rather than wrapped?
You could, but I wouldn’t really advise it. For starters, having your car sprayed is a lot more expensive. This is because wrapping a car is a much less complicated option and this is reflected in the price. A wrap is also an excellent way to protect your car from any potential damage to the paintwork, etc.
And what if after having it done, you redesign your company logo? Or you need to change the phone number that you have had written all over the side of your vehicle? With a wrap on your vehicle, this isn’t such a big deal. Simply have the wrap removed and replaced. Much easier to do than if you had the car sprayed which is the more permanent option.
It can also be a benefit to have your car, or whatever vehicle we’re talking about in your case, wrapped to protect the value of your vehicle for resale in the future. Once the vinyl is a few years old, or if you do decide to sell, you can then have the vinyl removed and you are left with a vehicle that looks years younger than it is.
If it seems like a big step to take and you are nervous about getting it wrong, why not try starting with a smaller area first. For example, you could just get the bumper wrapped, or the mirrors, or some other smaller area of the vehicle before jumping in and getting the whole vehicle done. What have you got to lose?
Are there any downsides I should know about?
Some people may try and save costs by going for a cheaper quality of vinyl. This would be a mistake and even the best technicians in the world can’t make an inexpensive vinyl look like the professional, perfect finish you are searching for. So, if you want the job done right, be willing to pay a bit extra for a good quality vinyl.
Another thing to consider is using someone with experience and a good reputation in this field. No doubt you feel precious over your vehicles and your purpose is to improve them, not damage them. So, make sure you are confident in their abilities, and you trust them to do a good job.
If your car, or vehicle, has been wrapped, it is advisable to wash it by hand. Be careful what polishes and brushes are used as they can damage, or destroy, the vinyl, leaving your vehicle looking a bit of a mess.
Summary
Getting your car, or vehicle, wrapped is a great way to improve its appearance or to help advertise your business and add to its professional reputation. It is the preferred route to take by most over getting a vehicle sprayed as it is easier to change it should you need to in the future, and it is the cheaper option too. Don’t try to do the job yourself but go to a company with a good reputation and lots of experience. And if you’re a bit unsure, try on just a small part of the car first to see what you think. So, what are you waiting for? Give it a go today.
