Bottas in Mercedes, Williams confirms Massa for 2017
Just a couple of months after announcing his retirement from Formula 1, Felipe Massa returned to Williams, while Valtteri Bottas joined Mercedes F1 team.
The Brazilian driver returned at his old team and will partner teenager Lance Stroll. The story about Massa’s return became hot after Mercedes team declared interest in another Williams’ driver Valtteri Bottas. Massa probably wasn’t the first option for Williams, but British team needed an experienced driver to be support for the Canadian rookie and Brazilian veteran probably was the best available solution.
Just an hour after Williams’ announcement, Mercedes confirmed arrival of Valtteri Bottas. The Finn arrived in the championship winning team as a replacement for Nico Rosberg who surprisingly retired from the sports after winning his maiden F1 title in 2016.
Bottas debuted in Formula 1 in 2013 and since then raced in 77 Grand Prix events, scoring a nine podium finishes and earning a total of 411 points.
