More than four months after the race we finally and officially have the winner of the season-opening race of Blancpain Endurance Series at Monza.  Just to remind you, #19 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 of Grasser Racing Team crossed the finish line first  but team was later excluded because of an alleged wrong refueling system. Race was held on 12th April and five months later, FIA overturned their decision so GRT drivers Andrew Palmer, Fabio Babini and Jeroen Mul cam finally celebrate their victory.

At Monza, the Austrian team fielded two brand new Lamborghini Huracan GT3 for the first time. It marked the first race for the GT3 race car, which was fully developed in-house at Automobili Lamborghini. After 3 hours of racing, Huracan #19 was the first car to drive across the finish line, while #63 car finished 25th. Shortly after the race, the Stewards of the Meeting ruled to exclude car #19 from the results. The reason for such decision was a refueling system in breach of the regulations.

Team Principal Gottfried Grasser commented FIA’s newest decision: “We were sure that the FIA would make a decision based on the rules, since we were in conformity with the regulations. We had to be patient and wait for the hearing and the decision, but now we can officially celebrate the victory at Monza. We are proud to have claimed this historic victory together with Automobili Lamborghini. We would also like to thank SRO for the continuous support.”
