Audi Sport TT Cup: Dennis Marschall Wins Second Race at Hockenheim

The young German driver Dennis Marschall has won Race 2 of Audi Sport TT Cup at Hockenheimring, thus taking the lead position in the drivers’ standings after two inaugural races of the new Audi one-make cup.

The second race was held on a wet track due to the incessant rain. That did not however, come in the way of spectators getting an opportunity to witness plenty of awe-inspiring overtaking manoeuvres, two safety car periods and a five-way battle for victory. Though the safety car was out for six laps, the rest of the race saw a fierce battle for the top position. Marschall took the lead over pole-sitter Nicolaj Møller Madsen with a bold manoeuvre in the hairpin turn with push-to-pass function.

Møller Madsen had to defend himself against the attacks by Alexis van de Poele, Marc Coleselli and Joonas Lappalainen in the remaining laps. Dane succeeded and finished as the runner-up, just as he did in the first race. Van de Poele completed the podium in third.

Marschall is now leading the drivers’ standings after two races with 43 points, closely trailed by Møller Madsen (42) and Coleselli (41).

The next event is scheduled at Norisring in June (26th-28th).
