Samantha Tan is a history-maker both as a Canadian and a woman of colour. We love her spunk and drive—she is as charming as she is a competitor. We also love that in a sport that is dominated by men, she has stayed true to herself and her femininity, and her skin shows as much. There won’t be a race day where she does not look beautiful! Samantha glows, and part of the reason why is because she takes good care of her skin.

There is a three-step rule that makes for good skin care – cleanse, tone, moisturise – it is clear Samantha really sticks to this! So can you, if you want your skin to glow as much as hers does; the Nutrimetics catalogue has a variety of products for your skincare to get you started. From foaming cleansers to probiotic spray, and environmentally friendly hand creams, the Nutrimetics products are made from natural ingredients that are not only excellent for your skin, but for the environment too.

Samantha used to suffer from eczema and, as a result, her skin was scarred, so she would always wear long-sleeved clothes to cover up what she thought were unsightly scars. She has since found products that work for her and her skin glows so much that you wouldn’t believe it hasn’t been like this her whole life! She makes sure that she follows her skincare routine to maintain its health after a hard day of competing on the track. If, like Samantha, you want to have beautiful skin, keep reading. This will apply even as a skincare routine for men; it does not discriminate.

Skincare routine step

Cleanse

When you cleanse your skin, you are simply washing it so that it is better able to absorb the love you’ll give it with the other products. The trick is to understand what your skin type is so that you can choose products that will work best for you. You may have normal, sensitive, oily, or combination skin; ingredients for these different skin types are not the same as they cater to exactly what your skin needs. Samantha uses micellar water among other cleansers.

Tone

A toner is a liquid that is used to remove any excess dirt on your skin left after cleansing and also to hydrate your skin. You will notice that the first time you tone, the cotton pad you use will likely have you thinking you didn’t wash your face very well, but that’s not it. Toner cleans and hydrates your skin all at one go, making it an essential part of your routine.

Moisturise

You are essentially giving your skin some moisture, providing that last layer of protection, and making sure it receives the nutrients it needs. The type of moisturiser you use will highly depend on your skin type. For example, if you have dry skin, a cream would work best, whereas if you have oily skin, fluids and gels work better.

There are other products you can use that will not limit you to this three-step method, like serums, face oils, and sunscreen. The other products can also be fitted into any of the categories above, depending on what role they play. Remember that your skin’s health is also affected by what you eat; drink lots of water to keep it glowing, just like Samantha Tan’s.
