The 29-year-old TCR Benelux driver Aurelien Comte is a surprise winner of the TCR Europe Trophy which took place at the Adria International Raceway this weekend. The driver of the DG Sport Competition’s Peugeot 308 Cup is the overall winner after two races in which he scored fourth and second place. The race winners were Josh Files (Target Competion, Honda Civic) and Gabriele Tarquini (BRC Racing, Hyundai i30 N).

TCR Germany’s champion Josh Files took a victory in Race 1, beating the polesitter Gabriele Tarquini. Giacomo Altoe finished third in Target Competition’s Honda Civic. Aurelien Comte finished in the fourth place.

In the second race, Gabriele Tarquini claimed a victory at the wheel of Hyundai i30 N, which isn’t eligible to score points due to temporary homologation. Because of that, second-placed Aurelien Comte scored a maximum of 25 points for the TCR Europe Trophy. This was enough for him to grab the European title.

Comte was fighting for the second position against Giacomo Altoe. It was a fight for the title, as they finished on equal points, but Comte was crowned the TCR Europe champion for the better results.
