GDL Racing wins Lamborghini Super Trofeo race 1 at Monza

The 2017 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe season kicked-off at Monza with a victory of Rik Breukers and Axcil Jefferies in GDL Racing’s car #7.

At the start of the race, Rik Breukers defended his leading position without too much effort while Vito Postiglione (Imperiale) and Loris Spinelli (Antonelli Motorsport) battled for the 2nd position, with Yuki Nemoto (VS Racing) just behind them, waiting for his opportunity.

The same standings were when pit window was opened. Axcil Jefferies replaced Breukers in GDL Racing’s car #7 and kept the lead in front of Mikael Grenier in Antonelli Motorsport’s #17 and Raphael Abbate in VS Racing’s #6 Lambo. The gaps were pretty tight and were shortened even more after the safety car was deployed with 19 minutes to go.

In the last 10 minutes, when the safety car went in, nothing has changed in the top 3 standings, so GDL Racing drivers celebrated a triumph in the season-opening event.
