Championship title with Team BMR's Subaru

For the 2017 BTCC season, Sutton rejoined Team BMR to drive the #116 Subaru Levorg GT. After a bad start of the season at Brands Hatch, he captured two podiums in the second round at Donington Park. The first win of the season came in the fourth round at Oulton Park. Sutton collected six wins through the season to enter the season's finale as the championship leader, with Colin Turkington as his only rival. Sutton added two more podiums to his account and won the title with 21-point gap ahead of Turkington.

For the 2018 BTCC season, Sutton announced that he will defend a title in the same car, carrying the number 1 on it. He won six races, more than three best-placed drivers (Turkington, Ingram, Chilton) together, but his other results were not so good and he finished just fourth in the points. In 2019, again in the #116 Subaru, Sutton has won just one race to finish 8th in the final standings.
