Alex Lynn, 2014 champion is to drive in GP2 this year, competing for DAMS team, and only two drivers have been confirmed to this day: Mexican driver Alfonso Celis Jr. has left Status Grand Prix and will drive for ART Grand Prix, and Italian driver Luca Ghiotto will again be the driver for Trident. Also, Dino Zamparelli will leave ART Grand Prix and will compete in Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain.

As for the teams, there have also been several changes. After bankruptcy of the Marussia F1 Team, Marussia Manor Racing left the GP3 series, and Campos Racing will replace Hilmer Motorsport. That leaves us with eight confirmed teams: Campos racing, Trident, Jenzer Motorsport, Arden International, Koiranen GP, Status Grand Prix, ART Grand Prix and Carlin, who will defend the 2014 title. With one vacant place, a possible entry will be anounced in the future.

This year’s races will take place on Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Red Bull Ring, Silverstone Circuit, an undisclosed circuit in Germany, Hungaroring, Circuit de Spa-Francochamps, Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Sochi International Street Circuit and Yas Marina Circuit.

The only two confirmed drivers have both done well during the post-season trainings in Abu Dhabi, and ART Grand Prix is very confident in the success of the young Mexican driver. As ART Grand Prix team manager Sébastien Philippe said: “Alfonso has a typical profile of a driver who can grow enormously in 2015. After his first GP3 season in 2014, he knows the series, the circuits and the car. Moreover, despite his young age he made his mark far from home and has blossomed in the European environment. Finally, the tests he conducted late last year in Abu Dhabi with ART Grand Prix were very encouraging with a top 6 finish on the last day with upward timing and technical progress.”

Luca Ghiotto is also full of enthusiasm concerning the next season: “Reaching this agreement with Trident makes me very happy. My objective for 2015 is to leave a mark in the GP3 category and I am convinced that starting right away with the preparation of the next season, we will be able to frequently hear the Italian national anthem on the podium.”
