Corvette Racing in 2015
World-renowned for their partnership with General Motors and numerous endurance racing wins, Pratt &Miller Engineering and Fabrication was founded by Jim Miller and Gary Pratt in 1989 in New Hudson, Michigan. One of their first cars was Intrepid RM-1, a Chevrolet-powered IMSA GTP car. Ten years after the inception, in 1999, the company became officially involved with General Motors, and became Corvette Racing, one of their official racing teams. In the meantime, the company has helped DeTomaso develop the Qvale Mangusta and has worked on Ford GT, one of the best supercars of its age.
The team has scored first endurance racing wins in 2001 when their Corvette scored first in-class places at 2001 24 Hours of Le Mans and 24 Hours of Daytona, and won American Le Mans Series in GTS class. That was the first out of seven straight victories in the series, and the first out of seven wins in 24 Hours of Le Mans. Besides Corvettes, Pratt &Miller have built a Cadillac CTS-V which won the 2005 Speed World Challenge, and a Pontiac GTO.R that won the 2006 Rolex Sports Car Series.
In 2014 Tudor SportsCar Challenge, Corvette Works drove their newly developed car, the C7.R Corvette, based on Chevrolet’s all-new Stingray Corvette. They have won the second place in teams’ championship with 317 points, while their best-ranked driver was Antonio Garcia at number 3.
In 2015, the car number 2 will be driven by Antonio Garcia, Jan Magnussen and Ryan Briscoe, while car number 3 will be shared by Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner and Simon Pagenaud. Despite the fierce competition in GTLM class, the experience of both the engineers, the mechanics and the drivers themselves will likely prevail in 2015, when the whole team gets properly acquainted with their new car. With that in mind, we hope that Corvette Racing will win back the throne, in one of the best looking and best sounding GT race cars today.
