2020 IndyCar calendar: Richmond returns as a replacement for Pocono
The 2020 NTT IndyCar Series calendar has been released, featuring seventeen races, the same number as in the last three seasons from 2017 to 2019.
The main change on the schedule is a return to Richmond Raceway for the first time since 2009. The popular short track (0.75-miles) in Richmond, Virginia, returns to IndyCar calendar as a replacement for Pocono Raceway.
It means that premier North American single-seater championship will visit the same number of oval tracks (five), streets circuits (five) and permanent road courses (seven) as in 2019.
The three-quarter-mile Virginia oval will host the 11th race of the season under the lights on Saturday, June 27. Traditionally, for the tenth consecutive year, the season would be opened at the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida. The season will conclude for the second consecutive year at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
