Titans RX: Kevin Hansen is the champion of the inaugural season
Kevin Hansen has been crowned the champion of the inaugural season of the TitansRX series after taking victory in the final round of the season on Sunday at Estering, Germany.
The 21-year-old Swedish driver concluded his fantastic season with the twelfth podium in twelve rounds, including four victories, beating his brother Timmy Hansen and Finnish rival Toomas ‘Topi’ Heikkinen in the title fight. After twelve races, Kevin collected 317 points, 35 more than Timmy and 36 more than Topi.
Both Topi Heikkinen and Timmy Hansen had technical problems in the final race of the season, enabling Kevin Hansen to take his title much easier. He shared the last podium of the season with Kevin Eriksson and Jerome Grosset-Janin.
In Saturday’s Round 11, Jerome Grosset-Janin took his maiden victory in the series. He was one of just two drivers that crossed the finish line in the seven-lap final race as wet weather caused chaos on the track. He shared a podium with Kevin Hansen and Topi Heikkinen.
Grosset-Janin takes the fourth place in the championship, in front of Tamara Molinaro. Csu Csu Kornel, Ronny C’Rock, Andreas Steffen, Craig Breen and Oliver Webb are following from P6 to P10.
The next event on the international rallycross calendar is the final round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship on November 9-10 in South Africa.
Both Hansen brothers are championship contenders. Timmy is leading with 187 points on his account, just one more than Andreas Bakkerud. Kevin is third with 179 points.
