Josh Files is TCR Europe Series champion for 2019
Josh Files (Target Competition, Hyundai i30 N TCR) is the TCR Europe Series champion for 2019. The 29-year-old British driver has won the last race of the season at Monza, what was his third win this year, to take his fourth TCR championship title in a career. Previously, Files was ADAC TCR German champion in 2016 and 2017, and TCR Middle East champion in 2017.
Josh Files and the Frenchman Julien Briche (JSB Competition, Peugeot 308 TCR) came to Monza as the only two championship contenders. Briche triumphed in the first race but Files also collected valuable points with the third-place finish. The second place went to Aurelien Comte (DSG Sport Competition, Peugeot 308).
In the second race, Files allowed no surprises and took the victory, beating Briche to the finish line by 1.223 seconds. Daniel Lloyd (Brutal Fish Racing, Honda Civic) joined then on the podium.
In the end, after fourteen races on seven famous European circuits (Hungaroring, Hockenheim, Spa, Spielberg, Oschersleben, Barcelona, Monza), Files collected 352 points on his account, 38 more than Briche. Santiago Urrutia from Uruguay finished the season in third place, driving an Audi RS3 LMS for Team WRT.
