Super Formula: First win of the season for defending champion Yamamoto
The defending Super Formula champion Naoki Yamamoto (Docomo Team Dandelion Racing, Honda) scored his first win of the season and seventh win in a career at Sportsland Sugo, in the third round of the 2019 season.
Yamamoto came to Sugo as the championship leader and he extended his lead to eleven points (27:16) ahead of Nick Cassidy (Vantelin Team Tom’s, Toyota), who finished fourth. Yamamoto shared a podium with Kamui Kobayashi (KCMG, Toyota) and Lucas Auer (B-Max Racing with Motopark, Honda).
The other point scorers are Alex Palou (Nakajima Racing, Honda), Nirei Fukuzumi (Dandelion Honda), Kenta Yamashita (Kondo Racing Toyota) and Hiroaki Ishiura (P.mu Cerumo Inging Toyota).
The fourth round will take place at Fuji Speedway on July 13-14.
