Porsche Supercup: Defending champ returns to the top podium spot
Defending Porsche Supercup champion Michael Ammermüller (BWT Lechner Racing) triumphed today in Supercup race at Monaco. For the 33-year-old German driver, it’s his second win at the streets of Monte Carlo, he previously won there in 2017.
Ammermüller showed a dominant performance in the second round of the season, being fastest in practice, then setting the fastest qualifying lap and finally leading in the race from start to finish. He won in front of Mikkel O. Pedersen (Dinamic Motorsport). Larry ten Voorde (MRS GT-Racing) completed the podium.
Julien Andlauer, the winner of the season-opening round at Barcelona, finished seventh today among twenty-four drivers that participated in the race. Ayhancan Guven was the best rookie in the fifth place overall while Roar Lindland was 12th overall and the best among ProAm drivers.
Michael Ammermüller takes the lead in the championship after two races, collecting 36 points. The second-placed Ayhancan Guven has 30 points, one more than Julien Andlauer.
The next Porsche Supercup event is scheduled for June 28-30 at Red Bull Ring.
