Porsche Supercup: Julien Andlauer dominant in the season-opening race
Julien Andlauer (BWT Lechner Racing) has won the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup race at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, the first round of the 2019 season. For the 19-year-old Porsche Junior, it’s his third Supercup victory after two triumphs last year.
The Frenchman in the #2 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup was a dominant driver at the Spanish Grand Prix track all over the weekend, setting the fastest times during practice and qualifying. On Sunday, he converted pole position into victory.
Turkish rookie Ayhancan Guven (Martinet by Almeras) and reigning Supercup champion Michael Ammermuller (BWT Lechner Racing), who started the race from P2 and P3, crossed the finish line in same positions.
Tio Ellinas (Momo Megatron Lechner Racing) did a similar thing, starting and finishing fourth. Jaap van Lagen, Mikkel O. Pedersen, Al Faisal Al Zubair, Jaxon Evans, Gianmarco Quaresmini and Max van Splunteren completed the top 10. The best ProAm class driver was Roar Lindland in 15th place overall. Twenty-eight drivers participated in the race.
