NASCAR: Brad Keselowski cruises to dominant Martinsville victory

Brad Keselowski wins the STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway, the sixth race of the 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season. For the driver of the #2 Team Penske Ford Mustang, it’s the second win of the season and 29th Cup Series victory in a career. At Martinsville’s 0.526-mile track, he won for the second time in a career.

Keselowski was in the lead for 446 of 500 laps, beating Chase Elliot (Hendrick Motorsports) at the finish line by 0.594 seconds. Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing), who won Truck Series race at Martinsville on Saturday, finished third in the Cup Series race. Ryan Blaney (Team Penske) and Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing)  rounded the top five.

Brad Keselowski was in the lead for 446 of 500 laps

Brad Keselowski took the lead from teammate and pole-sitter Joey Logano after six laps and remained in front for the 319 laps, which included two stage wins. Chase Elliott was chasing Keselowski for most of the race and he finally made a pass for the lead on Lap 325, staying in front for 49 laps. Keselowski regained his lead on Lap 374.

The next Cup Series race is the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, scheduled for March 31.
