World RX: Timmy Hansen wins in Latvia, takes championship lead by one point
Timmy Hansen (Team Hansen MJP, Peugeot) has won the FIA World Rallycross Championship round in Latvia, scoring his third win of the season and taking the lead in the championship by just one point over the previous leader Andreas Bakkerud (Monster Energy RX Cartel, Audi), who finished third at Bikernieki Sport Complex.
With just one more round on the calendar, the season’s finale in South Africa in November, three drivers are still in the championship fight, with third-placed Kevin Hansen (Team Hansen MJP, Peugeot) just eight points behind his older brother. Kevin finished fourth in Latvia.
Niclas Gronholm (GRX Taneco, Hyundai i20) finished second in Latvia to defend his fourth place in the championship. The other two finalists were Timur Timerzyanov (GRX Hyundai, 5th) and Lian Doran (Monster Audi, 6th). Nineteen Supercar drivers participated in the penultimate round of the season
