FIA GT World Cup: Raffaele Marciello defeated Porsche's duo
Raffaele Marciello is the winner of the 2019 FIA GT World Cup! The 24-year-old Italian brought the #999 Mercedes-AMG GT3 of GruppeM Racing to the victory at Macau Guia Circuit in both races, first in Saturday’s 12-lap Qualification Race and then in Sunday’s 18-lap Final Race.
Marciello shared a podium with two Porsche factory drivers Laurens Vanthoor and Earl Bamber, who were driving Porsche 911 GT3 Rs for Rowe Racing. Bamber was second in the Quali Race but on Sunday they switched positions.
Last year’s winner Augusto Farfus (Team Schnitzer, BMW M6 GT3) and Phoenix Racing’s Christopher Haase (Audi R8 LMS GT3) didn’t switch positions, they finished in P4 and P5 respectively in both races.
Seventeen drivers participated in both races, representing just four German brands.
