Formula 3: Hitech Grand Prix takes both victories at Silverstone
The British team Hitech Grand Prix takes two victories in two races of the FIA Formula 3 Championship during the British Grand Prix weekend at Silverstone. Juri Vips triumphed in Saturday’s Feature Race and then Leonardo Pulcini has won Sunday’s Sprint Race.
For Vips, it’s his fifth F3 victory after he won four times last year in the F3 European Championship. Pulcini climbed to the top podium spot for the third time in the third-tier competition after two last year’s victories in the GP3 Series.
Prema Racing’s Robert Shwartzman and Jehan Daruvala, who came to Silverstone as two leading drivers in the championship, will leave Britain on the same positions after each of them scored one podium this weekend. Shwartzman was second in the Sprint Race while Daruvala was second in the Feature Race.
The third Prema driver Marcus Armstrong completed the podium with the third-place finish on Saturday. On Sunday, Liam Lawson (MP Motorsport) finished third in the Sprint Race, what was his maiden F3 podium.
After four rounds and eight races, Robert Shwartzman leads the championship with a 12-point gap (114:102) over his teammate Jehan Daruvala, Juri Vips is third with 92 points.
The fifth round is scheduled for August 3-4 at Hungaroring.
