Formula 3: Lundgaard, Armstrong winners at Hungaroring
Christian Lundgaard (ART Grand Prix) and Marcus Armstrong (Prema Racing) are the winners of two Formula 3 races at Hungaroring, in the fifth round of the 2019 FIA Formula 3 Championship. Both for Lundgaard and Armstrong that were their first victories this season.
On Saturday, the 18-year-old Danish racer Christian Lundgaard took his first-ever Formula 3 win after starting from pole position and leading for the entire Feature race at Hungaroring. He shared a podium with ART Grand Prix teammate Max Fewtrell and HWA Racelab’s Jake Hughes.
The championship leader Robert Shwartzman (Prema Racing) finished the race in the fifth place, behind his main opponent Juri Vips (Hitech). Other point scorers were Felipe Drugovich, Leonardo Pulcini, Marcus Armstrong, Yuki Tsunoda and Logan Sargeant.
On Sunday, Marcus Armstrong scored his maiden win this year after he was on a podium three times. After 22 laps, Leonardo Pulcini (Hitech) crossed the finish line in the second place while Jake Hughes scored his second third-place finish in two days.
Juri Vips also repeated Saturday’s result, finishing Sunday’s Sprint race in the fourth place and cutting the gap behind championship leader Robert Shwartzman to twelve points. Shwartzman now has 124 points, Vips collects 112 points. Jehan Daruvala is third in the standings with 104 points.
The sixth round of the FIA Formula 3 Championship is scheduled for August 31 at Spa-Francorchamps.
