Formula 3 at Circuit Paul Ricard: The same trio on a podium in both races
Prema Racing’s Jehan Daruvala and Robert Shwartzman share the victories during the FIA Formula 3 Championship weekend at Circuit Paul Ricard, in the second round of the 2019 season. They repeated the double triumph for Prema from the season-opening round at Barcelona, also retaining top places in the championship standings for themselves and for the team.
Daruvala and Shwartzman were on a podium after both races at Circuit Paul Ricard. Daruvala has won Saturday’s race in front of Shwartzman and Trident’s Pedro Piquet. In Sunday’s race, the same trio reached the podium, with Shwartzman winning the race ahead of Piquet and Daruvala.
In the first race, Daruvala stole the lead from pole-sitter Jake Hughes (HWA Racelab), who later had a collision with Marcus Armstrong and was forced to retire. The hero of the race was Yuki Tsunoda (Jenzer Motorsport), who gained twenty places, from P27 to P7, and also set the fastest lap of the race.
On Sunday, Prema’s drivers dominated in the race again but Pedro Piquet prevented 1-2 for Prema, stealing the second place from Daruvala on the penultimate lap.
After four races, Robert Shwartzman Daruvala leads the championship with 70 points on his account, twelve more than Jehan Daruvala. Marcus Armstrong is far behind in third place with 37 points. The next round is scheduled for the next weekend at Red Bull Ring.
