European Le Mans Series: Filipe and Phil dominated at Spa

United Autosports’ Filipe Albuquerque and Phil Hanson are the winners of the 4 Hours of Spa, the fifth and the penultimate round of the 2019 European Le Mans Series. The duo in the #22 Oreca LMP2 prototype dominated in the race, starting from pole and converting it into their first win this season.

After 101 laps at the iconic circuit in the Belgian Ardennes, the #22 Oreca crossed the finish line with the 12.304sec advantage over the #37 Cool Racing Oreca of Nicolas Lapierre and Antonin Borga. The battle for the second place has been decided on the last turn. The third place went to the #39 Graff crew of Tristan Gommendy, Alexandre Cougnaud and Jonathan Hirschi.

The defending champions and current leaders in the #26 G-Drive Aurus finished the race in the fourth place. The car was driven by Roman Rusinov, Jean-Eric Vergne and Job van Uitert.

Luzich Racing ELMS Spa

Luzich Racing takes the ELMS championship title in the GTE class

Behind LMP2 cars, the 14th place overall and the first in the GTE class went to #51 Luzich Racing Ferrari 488 GTE, driven by Alessandro Pier Guidi, Nicklas Nielsen and Fabien Lavergne. This is the third win for the #51 crew which secured the championship title even before the season’s finale on October 27 at Portimao.

Mikkel Jensen and Jens Petersen also scored their third win of the season, taking the LMP3 class victory in the #11 Ligier JS P3 of Eurointernational team.
