WTCR: Three wins for YMR Hyundais at Ningbo International Circuit
The seventh round of the 2018 WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup took place at Ningbo International Circuit in China. Yvan Muller and Thed Björk scored three victories for M Racing – YMR in Hyundai i30 N TCR machines. They Björk celebrated wins in Race 1 and Race 3 while his teammate and team boss Yvan Muller triumphed in Race 2.
Despite M Racing – YMR’s domination at Chinese race track, Gabriele Tarquini (BRC Racing Team, Hyundai i30 N TCR) is the championship leader after seven rounds. He finished fourth in Race 1, recorded DNF in Race 2 and then reached a podium with second place in Race 3. Tarquini now has 241 points, eight more than Björk and nine more than Muller.
In Race 1, Björk started from pole and won a race ahead of Esteban Guerrieri (ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport, Honda Civic Type R TCR) and Frederic Vervisch (Comtoyou Racing, Audi RS3 LMS).
In Race 2, Yvan Muller scored his third win of the season ahead of Mehdi Bennani (Sebastien Loeb Racing, VW Golf GTI TCR) and Esteban Guerrieri. After Race 3, Thed Bjork and Gabriele Tarquini shared a podium with Denis Dupont (Comtoyou Racing, Audi) for whom it was the maiden WTCR podium.
The next WTCR round will also take place in China, at Wuhan street circuit, on October 6-7.
