Kristoffersson wins one more time and secures his second World RX title
Johan Kristoffersson secures his second FIA World Rallycross Championship title today during the World RX event at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, the tenth round of the 12-part championship. The Swedish driver of the #1 Volkswagen Polo R Supercar collected enough points for a championship celebration by finishing second in the Semi Final.
However, he continued his fantastic streak of wins by taking victory in Finals, what was his ninth win in ten rounds in 2018. Kristoffersson shared a podium with two Norwegians – his teammate Petter Solberg finished second and Andreas Bakkerud (EKS Audi Sport) finished third.
The other three finalists were Sebastien Loeb (Peugeot, 4th), Timmy Hansen (Peugeot, 5th) and Mattias Ekstrom (Audi, 6th). Fifteen drivers participated in the North American World RX round.
The Circuit of the Americas also hosted the last round of the ARX Americas Rallycross, with Andretti Autosport’s Scott Speed taking the championship title.
The next World RX event is scheduled for October 13-14 at Estering in Germany.
