Victory for #911 Porsche 911 in the season-opening VLN round
Porsche factory drivers Kevin Estre, Laurens Vanthoor and Earl Bamber dominantly won the 64. ADAC Westfalenfahrt, the first round of the 2018 VLN Endurance Series at Nurburgring Nordschleife.
A trio in the #911 Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R started from pole and crossed the finish line as the winners after four hours of racing, completing 28 laps. They continued the winning streak of the #911 Porsche, the most successful car last year with five overall wins during the season.
Markus Winkelhock and Nico Müller secured the second place for the #24 Team BWT Audi R8 LMS after Nico Müller overtook Klaus Bachler in the #4 Falken Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R on the last lap. Bachler’s co-driver was Sven Müller. The #29 Team Land Audi R8 LMS finished fourth overall, ahead of the #47 Team HTP Mercedes-AMG GT3.
At the end of the race, last year’s VLN champion Michael Schrey impressed the crowd by pushing his #1 BMW M235i Racing Cup over the finish line after an engine stalled. By finishing the race he secured a valuable points for the championship.
