Luca Engstler is the 2018 TCR Middle East Series champion
The 17-year-old Luca Engstler has become the youngest driver ever to claim a title in any TCR series by winning the TCR Middle East Series today. The German teenager secured the title after winning the first race of season’s finale at Bahrain International Circuit. The second race of the evening programme has been cancelled due to weather conditions.
Luca Engstler scored three wins in five races of the 2018 TCR Middle East Series in the #8 Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR of Liqui Moly Team Engstler. The first to congratulate him was his father and team owner Franz Engstler.
Coming to Bahrain as series leader, Luca Engstler claimed a pole position on Friday and then he won Race 1 in an authoritative way. he secured a title with that win so nobody wasn’t upset because of the cancellation of the second race.
Giacomo Altoe (Pit Lane Competizioni, Audi RS3 LMS) finished third in today’s race and second in the final championship standings. Engstler’s teammate Florian Thoma was second today and he finished third in the championship. The Liqui Moly Team Engstler takes also the Teams’ title.
