TCR Middle East in Abu Dhabi: Wins for Giacomo Altoe and Luca Engstler

Giacomo Altoe (Pit Lane Competizioni) and Luca Engstler (Liqui Moly Team Engstler) are the winners of two races of the opening round of the TCR Middle East Series which took place at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit this weekend.

Giacomo Altoe has won the Race 1 after leading from lights to flag in an Audi RS3 LMS ahead of three Volkswagen Golfs of Mato Homola, Luca Engstler and Florian Thoma. Lorenzo Veglia rounded the top 5, ahead of sixth-placed Kai Jordan.

A duel between Engstler and Veglia marked the Race 2

In the Race 2, Luca Engstler inherited a win after a provisional winner Lorenzo Veglia received a 30-second penalty for hitting and passing Engstler on the final lap. A penalty moved Veglia to 8th place. Kai Jordan and Giacomo Altoe completed the Race 2 podium.

Eleven drivers participated in the first round of the TCR Middle East Series. After two races, Giacomo Altoe is the series’ leader with 45 points on his account, one point more then Luca Engstler. Mato Homola lies in third position with 33 points.

The championship will resume next weekend (January 26-27) at the Dubai Autodrome.
