TCR Europe: Two out of two for Borković at Circuit Paul Ricard
The Serbian racer Dušan ‘Duca’ Borković was a dominant figure in the season-opening round of the 2018 TCR Europe Series at Circuit Paul Ricard. He won both races in the #62 Hyundai i30 N TCR of Target Competition.
The Saturday’s victory came after his start from pole position while in Sunday’s race he made a progress from the tenth starting position to the top podium spot.
On Saturday, Borković was controlling the race and he was leading from start to finish, taking a victory ahead of another Hyundai driver Daniel Nagy (M1RA). PCR Sport’s Mikel Azcona reached the third place in a Cupra TCR.
Behind their back, six drivers were fighting hard for P4. Josh Files finished fourth in the Hell Energy Racing Honda, ahead of Reece Barr (Target Competition Hyundai), Jean-Karl Vernay (Leopard Lukoil Racing Audi), Igor Stefanovski (Hyundai) and Stian Paulsen (Cupra).
In the second race, Borković started tenth on the grid but quickly progressed through the field, reaching P2 until the race was red-flagged following Igor Stefanovski’s crash. The security barrier has to be repaired so the race was stopped.
After the restart, Borković was chasing Jean-Karl Vernay‘s Audi until the last lap, when he made a decisive move and took the lead. The young Hungarian Daniel Nagy reached his second podium by finishing third.
