TCR Europe: Victories for Borković, Mora at Hungaroring
Dušan Borković (Target Competition) and Francisco Mora (M1RA Racing), both in Hyundai i30 N TCR cars, are the winners of two TCR Europe Series races at Hungaroring, in the fourth round of the 2018 season. Mikel Azcona (PCR Sport), who came to Hungary as the series leader, stayed on the top of the standings with just one point more than Borković.
Azcona set the fastest qualifying time in the #25 Cupra Leon TCR, adding five points to his account before the race. Starting from pole position, he defended a lead in the opening lap but lost two positions to Josh Files and Attila Tassi in Lap 2. After several mistakes of top three drivers, Borković jumped into the lead on lap 4 and stayed in front until the end.
The battle for P2 between Attila Tassi and Julien Briche eliminated them both and Stian Paulsen inherited the second place in the#34 Cupra Leon TCR. Daniel Nagy finished third in the #999 M1RA Racing’s Hyundai, ahead of Mikel Azcona. With new 12 points, Azcona stayed in the lead, with one-point gap ahead of Borković.
In the second race on Sunday, both leading drivers stayed without points. Borković had to retire after he damaged his Hyundai when attecked Josh Files. Azcona received drive-through penalty due to track limit infringement, dropping out of points.
The race winner was Francisco Mora who started from pole in the reversed grid. Daniel Nagy finished second, making it the 1-2 victory for the Hungarian M1RA Racing team. Josh Files ended the race in the third place in the #99 Hell Energy KCMG Honda Civic Type R.
