TCR Europe: Hungarians victorious at Assen, Borković takes series lead
The fifth round of the 2018 TCR Europe Series took place at TT Circuit Assen in the Netherlands. Two Hungarian drivers Daniel Nagy and Attila Tassi scored victories in two races but the man who could be the most satisfied is the Serbian driver Dušan Borković as he took the championship lead.
In Saturday’s Race 1, Daniel Nagy scored his maiden TCR Europe victory in the #999 M1RA Hyundai i30 N TCR, thanks to great overtaking manoeuvre against Jean-Karl Vernay in Leopard Lukoil Team WRT’s Audi RS3 LMS. Kris Richard finished third in Target Competition’s Hyundai. Dušan Borković started from P10 in the #62 Hyundai i30 N TCR of Target Competition, dropped to P12 and then recovered to finish in the sixth place, taking the series lead over Mikel Azcona who was ninth in the #25 Cupra TCR of PCR Sport.
In Sunday’s Race 2, Attila Tassi became the eighth different winner in ten races in the #9 Hell Energy Racing’s Honda Civic Type R. The young Hungarian was in the lead for the entire race and took the victory ahead of two championship contenders Mikel Azcona and Dušan Borković.
Two more rounds are on the calendar and Borković leads with just a two-point advantage over Mikel Azcona (134:132). Daniel Nagy is third, twenty points behind Borković. The next round is scheduled for September 22-23 at Monza.
