In the first Supercars race under the lights since 2010 when Yas Marina Circuit hosted the opening round of the championship, the championship leader Scott McLaughlin started from pole position but he couldn’t resist Red Bulls. Craig Lowndes finished fourth in the #888 Holden, ahead of Chaz Mostert in the #55 Ford Falcon and Rick Kelly in the #15 Nissan Altima.

Van Gisbergen’s victory leaves the championship fight wide open. He’s now 89 points down to leader Scott McLaughlin. The next Supercars round is the Bend SuperSprint and the Bend Motorsport Park in Tailem Bend, South Australia, scheduled for August 25-26.
