Craig Lowndes became the honorary citizen of Bathurst on Sunday and few hours he celebrated an honor with his seventh victory at Bathurst 1000 at Mount Panorama Circuit, the greatest Australian race and a part of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.

Driving the #888 Holden ZB Commodore for Autobarn Lowndes Racing, he did that together with Steven Richards, repeating their success from 2015. For Richards, it’s his fifth win at Bathurst 1000.

After announcing a retirement from full-time racing earlier this year, Craig Lowndes concludes his fantastic career in the best possible way. However, he still will have a chance to catch Peter Brock’s nine wins at Bathurst if he would return to Mount Panorama as an endurance co-driver in the following years.

Scott Pye and Warren Luff finished in the second place in the #2 Holden of the Walkinshaw Andretti United. The third pair on a podium was Scott McLaughlin and Alexandre Premat, the drivers of the #17 Ford FG X Falcon of DJR Team Penske.
