Kovalainen, Kobayashi lead 1-2-3-4 for Lexus at Buriram
Heikki Kovalainen and Kamui Kobayashi are the winners of the Super GT Series race at Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand, the fourth round of the 2018 Super GT season. A duo in the #39 Denso Kobelco SARD Lexus LC500 took the victory ahead of three more Lexus crews, making it the clean sweep for Toyota’s sub-brand.
Kazuya Oshima and Felix Rosenqvist finished in the second place in the #6 Wako’s Lexus, ahead of Yuji Kunimoto and Kenta Yamashita in the #19 WedsSport Lexus. Yuji Tachikawa and Hiroaki Ishiura finished fourth and missed a podium in the #38 Lexus.
Hideki Mutoh and Daisuke Nakajima, who earned the first ever pole position for the #16 Motul Mugen Honda NSX, finished the race in the fifth place. Daiki Sasaki and Jann Mardenborough were the best Nissan drivers, finishing sixth in the #12 Calsonic Impul Nissan GT-R.
In GT300 class, the victory went to Katsuyuki Hiranaka and Hironobu Yasuda in the #11 Gainer Tanax Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3. Koki Saga and Kohei Hirate finished second in the #31 Toyota Prius apr GT, ahead of the #3 Syntium LM Corsa Lexus RC F GT3, driven by Hiroki Yoshimoto and Ritomo Miyata.
