Maiden Porsche Supercup victory for Thomas Preining in his home race

The 19-year-old Austrian racer Thomas Preining (BWT Lechner Racing) scored his maiden Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup victory today at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg.

Preining started from pole position in his home race, the third round of the 2018 season, converting it to a victory ahead of two French racers Julien Andlauer and Florian Latorre, both drivers of Martinet by Almeras.

Dylan Pereira finished fouth ahead of Nick Yelloly, the winner of the previous race at Monte-Carlo. The reigning champion Michael Ammermuller finished in the seventh place, behind Zaid Ashkanani. Larry ten Voorde, Mattia Drudi and Alberto Cerqui completed the top 10. Thirty-two drivers participated in the race.

The next round of the Porsche Supercup is scheduled for the next weekend at Silverstone, as the support race to the F1 British Grand Prix.
